About 3 years ago I made a transition to using “natural” beauty products, rather than the big drug-store brands. I did this because I had done some research and was shocked about all the unnecessary filler products that most brands (even “natural” beauty brand Lush!!) pile into their products. I wanted to have a healthier, more back-to-basics approach to beauty. I had been struggling with my skin for a year or so before and this was one of the catalysts for change.
Since I transitioned I feel a lot better in myself and am more confident (no more concealer for me!). My skin has improved a thousand-fold, my face is no longer as red and reactive or as dry as it used to be, the skin on my arms is smoother, my hair is no longer constantly static, I have cut down on using make-up, get by with fewer products, and I also spend less money overall on beauty products!
In the past couple of years I’ve tested quite a few products that I’ve stumbled upon in my local health food shop or read a recommendation for on a beauty blog. I firmly believe that all beauty products do not suit all people; we are all so different in our skin and hair types that you really do need to experiment and find what is right for you. It’s taken me 3 years to find my groove and I still like to experiment with some products (still on the hunt for the perfect mascara…)!
I believe I’ve gained some experience of the natural beauty world, so I’d like to share a series of posts with you in the next month about my natural beauty adventures and products I think everyone should try while they’re trying to find their favourites. Whether you’re a natural beauty pro or just curious and starting out, I hope you’ll find some inspiration in these posts!
Do you use natural beauty products or whatever looks good to you on the shelf? Do you have any tips or tricks to share from your natural beauty journey? Are they any particular products (shampoo, cleaners, sun lotions etc.) that you’re like me to address?
