A couple of things across the world wide web that have inspired me this week.

Reasons to love winter

I love winter much to the consternation of my boyfriend but for those of you who don’t this is a beautiful reminder of the season’s splendours (minus the gift giving and family get-togethers) that you can view from the comfort and warmth of your living room sofa. What’s your favourite thing about winter?

Pearls of wisdom from Jane Austen

This week, the Independent newspaper celebrated the novelist Jane Austen’s birthday with this lovely round-up of segments from her novels that still apply today. I’ve always thought Austen was a keen observer of humanity from reading her novels, seeing all of these pieces together certainly proves it. Which is your favourite Austen quote?

Alternative tunes

If you’re sick of hearing all the usual Christmas songs droning out across town centres everywhere you needn’t become a scrooge to seasonal music. I’ve found two alternative Christmas playlists perfect for unwrapping presents or settling down to your turkey dinner to that won’t leave you groaning and reaching for the mute button (BBC Radio 6 Music and Virgin Music). Do you ever get sick of Christmas songs?
