Have you ever browsed Pinterest for home inspiration and noticed that the pins you’re drawn to are the ones with plants and greenery in them? It’s something I’ve noticed for myself recently. Clearly a plant is the item that really ties a room together (not a rug, Mr Lebowski). Maybe the reason hotel rooms never feel like home is because they don’t have plants in them? None of the ones I’ve ever been in have (but please feel free to correct me and recommend lots of lovely hotels with plants in them). I’m currently not able to add any greenery, however temporary, to our home (read building site) and it’s frustrating. I’ve been pondering what greenery I would include to make our house feel more homely. Here are a few of my favourite house plants.
For lush green foliage – Boston fern
For sheer colour and variety – Succulents
For a hint of the tropics – Ponytail Palm
For structure and height – Olive tree
For purple accents – Oxalis
For an alternative to a reed-diffuser – Jasmine
What are your favourite houseplants? Do you have any of these in your home?
